Transitioning Into An IBS-Sensitive Diet
I had a bowl of French onion soup on Saturday night, that was the last bit of cheese I ate. I'm transitioning into a six-week restricted diet. I'm swearing off all wheat, dairy, cheese, and potato and potato-like vegetables. I'm also going back to a vegan diet. I had some antacid tablets today, because my stomach was so sour, but I think the antacid tablets actually made my stomach upset. I had a handful of pretzels today, to try to take away the sour feeling, so that is now the last bit of wheat I am eating. I've been here before, I've done this before, but the first few days are always the most challenging.... But I'm more hopeful, because of the anecdotal evidence in this NYTimes article (The Boy With a Thorn in His Joints). So, we'll see how this one goes....
I was a little moody and Sunday and Monday, because I also gave up coffee. The timing is right, because I will finish the course of the low-grade antibiotic this week. The only dairy I may take, though, may be probiotic yogurt, in case that becomes necessary (or recommended by my doctor).

IBS Bathroom Emergency
I was at a meeting tonight, when I had to go to the bathroom. I had just walked in, when somebody began to bang on the door. I said that I was in the bathroom, but the person kept on banging on the door and turning the door knob. When I was finally done, I washed my hands, and opened the door to walk out. The man, who was making a scene on the other side of the door, turned out to be a prominent LGBT lawyer in Manhattan. I told him I was sorry that he had to wait, but that it wasn't my fault that there was only one public bathroom at our meeting space. He was completely upset, even though I had had the opportunity to meet him before on our work to save St. Vincent's Hospital, and he acted tonight like I was doing something wrong by using the bathroom.
I wonder how many people know that it is wrong to deny people the use of a toilet. Nobody goes to the toilet to play, they go there to use it. If the bully lawyer was having an emergency himself, by banging on the door and turning the knob like he was, the lawyer was violating medical needs of others. What makes him more special than anybody else ?

The next right thing
Our individual path toward something greater.
I have to admit that it is not as easy as I thought it would be to eat a vegetarian diet.
There's eggs in sweets, and now I have to find a way to swear off sweets, which is not an easy thing to do, since I seem to live on caffeine and sweets.
So, now I have to start looking for guidance, encouragement, and help from other people, if I want to continue down this path.

Slip
I ate non-veg biryani in Hyderabad.
Last weekend, I visited Andhra Pradesh. While I was there, I ate non-veg biryani. So, I am having to start all over again my commitment to eating vegetarian food.
Not only that, I have to reflect what does it mean that I ate non-veg, just days after I was ready to take the next step and give up eggs.
